This is a Wild Olive stump that we found on a farm in the Karoo. The tree grew around another tree, creating the "vortex".

This is a big piece of Wild Olive wood found on a farm in the Cederberge. It looked like a big bird, so I started shaping the body, cutting out a big piece using a saw and knocked it out with a chisel.
